Anti Aging Fuji Cream?

Before the days of Photoshop and digital cameras, Fuji was using a special type of collagen called pico-collegen to preserve pictures and stop them from fading. This same collagen has shown it can pass in between cells and help restore elasticity and suppleness to human skin.

This could be a much welcomes breakthrough for Fuji in a business that is worth billions a year.

It is all down to a natural red-orange pigment called astaxanthin belonging to the cartenoid family, found in salmon, shellfish, plants and some animals.

A super powerful antioxidant (it has been reported that it is ten times more powerful than resveratrol), astaxanthin is nature’s sun screen but it also has many other beneficial anti aging properties.

According to the website Natural Health, astaxanthin can:

1) Prevent damage done by the sun’s rays:

“The sun’s rays damage the skin through free radicals, which are also responsible for causing premature signs of aging and some cancers. Counteracting the activities of free radicals with antioxidants is important in preventing damage, such as sunburn, and astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body.”

2) Prevent heart disease, alzheimer and diabetes

“Research details published in The American Journal of Cardiologyprovide solid evidence that astaxanthin supplemented daily can inhibit the damaging effects of oxidative stress that leads to heart disease, heart attack and dementia.”

3) Has natural anti-inflammatory properties

“Although astaxanthin is no where near as strong as leading pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories, it has been found to be one of the strongest anti-inflammatories found in nature. Several double-blind, placebo-controlled animal and human clinical trials have shown that astaxanthin naturally inhibits many of the known inflammation-mediators and therefore can ease inflammation and pain without any negative side-effects.”

4) Astaxanthin combined with Flavangenol – the perfect combination against diabetic complications
Scientists at Japan Women’s University studied the effect of astaxanthin and Flavangenol, as well as a combination of both, in countering oxidative stress in rats with induced diabetes….After 12 weeks of feeding, the results showed that the lipid peroxide levels of plasma, lens, and plasma triglyceride levels in the mix group were reduced by 44%, 20%, and 20% respectively when compared with the control…”

5) Anti-cancer properties

More research has documented the anti-tumor activity of astaxanthin and its mode of action, as well as the contribution of its antioxidant properties to protect against cancer metastasis. Astaxanthin was also shown to inhibit aflatoxin B1 induced DNA damage.

The evidence is clear for Natural Astaxanthin but verdict is still out for this anti aging cream. That said, I will be the first in line to try it. It may seems a little strange coming from Fuji, but one thing is for sure, they have always been on the cutting edge for new developments and this, will certainly be a must-try.

Brain Exercise Games - Crosswords

If you lose the curiosity to learn, the desire to push yourself mentally or to face up to new challenges as you age, you will become stagnant and still. Your brain will age with no stimulation, and you will start to lose interest around you.

Brain exercise games are a great way to keep your mind active. You develop different ways to look at things, different approaches to get solutions or you may just discover new flexibilities in your thinking.

An active mind, no matter what age, is one of the best anti aging solutions.

Here are ten tips to help improve your brain power :

1) Brain Exercise Games – whether it is the crossword puzzles in the newspapers, sudoku or an electronic game borrowed from your children or grandchildren; all you need is about 15 minutes a day to keep that brain power moving. If you find a certain type of game easy, for example you are a sudoku master, then you need to move on to something else.

2) Meditation – No, it is not an excuse for a nap but meditation can relax and clear your mind, bringing your mental capacity to a different level. A relaxed mind is a great receptor to new concepts and ideas.

3) Share Great Stories – The younger generation will roll their eyes at this one but if you keep it entertaining and to the point, story telling is a great way keep memories alive and help you to interpret and understand past events. Sometimes telling a story as a third person could make you look at a situation differently.

4) Eat Brain Power Foods – If your brain (and your body) is not fed the proper fuel, then it will not function to its full capacity. Just like running a marathon, you need to eat the right foods to face the challenge. It is the same for the brain – wild salmon, pure olive oil, nuts and seeds such as walnuts and flax seeds are all great sources.

5) Keep Your Body Fit – Yes, the two go hand in hand. The brain needs to process all the information of movement, breathing, estimating distance, listening to your body and keeping you motivated. Make sure you do a variety of exercises to keep the brain alert and fit such as dancing, golf, hiking and swimming.

6) Stop Vegetating In Front of the TV – It is easy to let the TV take over your brain and let it go into passive mode as it feeds you  junk. The time spent watching mindless programs could be spent on physical exercise or something more educational and challenging such as playing games, listening to music, learning to paint, reading a good book or just spending quality time with your family.

7) Broaden Your Reading Material – We all have our favorite reading material : romance, thrillers, detective stories but have you tried reading something different? Perhaps a biography, something historical or a good classical play. Just by imagining a different time period, or finding out about a new culture will broaden your mind and make you think about life from a different prospective.

8) Learning Something New – Think you are too old to learn a new language/master the computer/learn the salsa? Well, think again. This is the perfect way to exercise different parts of your brain and to make you think differently. Nothing like a new tropical fish tank or learning to cook a new cuisine to get those brain juices flowing.

9) Change Your Routine – Does your brain go into automatic mode when you do certain things? Maybe you always take the same route to the supermarket, have a cup of tea at 4:00pm or always read the same newspaper. If you do things without having to think much about it, make some simple changes to challenge the brain to think : take a different route, ride a bike instead of drive, drink a different type of tea, or learn to go online to read different news sites.

10) Do Brain Training – There are many free online sites, books and brain games to keep your mind in tip top condition. The three main areas to concentrate on is visualization, memory and reasoning and if you just do fifteen minutes to half an hour a day, you will be well on your way to getting your brain in tip top shape.

New Anti Aging Creme Targeting European Women from Estee Lauder

Different Anti Aging Creme For European Women

Are European women’s requirements for anti aging creme different from American women’s requirements? Estee Lauder thinks so and will be launching anti aging products specifically targeted to women in Europe.

The first of which will be the Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme, the first such product targeting European women.

Women’s Wear Daily said that research done in Europe found such differences that this specific anti aging creme was born just to cater to those different requirements:

“According to WWD, Estee Lauder found European women to be “active and pragmatic”:

“She considers aging as a natural process and doesn’t identify a specific problem linked to her skin,” said Raffaella Cornaggia, [Estee Lauder's regional marketing director]. “She is not obsessed by beauty or by wrinkles. However, when she begins to notice certain changes in her skin, she wishes to delay them. She favors simplicity in her skin care, as well. In short, she seeks a complete solution.”"

So are European women really that different from American women?

From this study, the American woman comes out more obsessed and paranoid about even the slightest signs of aging – such as worrying about small laugh lines and crow’s feet – but according to a study conducted by Mama Mio as part of a “Summer Confidence” research:

“When asked how they felt about their overall body image, 15 percent of American women gave the positive response, “I was made to be naked,” while only one out of ten UK women felt so sure. And when it comes to feeling beach-ready? 30 percent of American women said they felt happy in a bikini, while only 12 percent of British women felt the same way.”

According to Mama Mio, it seems American women are more confident than their British counterpart. After polling 8,000 women, the study found that 35% of American women “loved their boobs” whilst only 20% of the British women loved theirs.

When asked the same question about their butts; 30% of American women loved theirs whilst only 20% of British women loved their behinds.

Now I have to add here that reported on 26 November 2011  in the Independent newspaper, figures released by the European Commission showed that “nearly a quarter (23.9 per cent) of women in the UK were obese in 2008/09, when the data was recorded.” British men were not fat behind at 22.1%. In fact, British women are now the fattest in Europe  which could explain the disenchanted body image British women have of themselves in general.

At the end of the day, all women want to delay the signs of aging – some may obsess about it more than others but who wouldn’t want a good anti aging creme just to delay the inevitable slightly longer?
